How To Save Screenshot As Jpg

Sometimes, I need to show others what occurred on Windows desktop of my computer as part of a report or demonstration. For example, when something went wrong on my computer, I need to send its screenshot to their tech support by email. Usually, I always follow steps listed below to do the thing:

1. Press the 'Print Screen' key, when I intend to save a screenshot image of Windows desktop activity on my computer.

2. Open up Microsoft Paint program which is usually located at 'Start Menu > All Programs > Accessories > Paint', or other image editor programs.

3. Press 'ctrl + v' in the image editor program to paste the screenshot image into the image editor.

4. Save the image to a file in the image editor program.

These steps are tedious, and Paint program can just save a image as a bitmap file in Windows XP, all we know that bitmap file is too large to be attached in a email. So, is there a better way to save screenshot as a jpg file?
